EMPRINT 1.0 AND EMPRINT 2.0 — 2015

The event, presented during ROMANIAN DESIGN WEEK, was a fashion design serial project. A creative concept from the first stage served as an inspirational support for it. This new project was opened for everyone who considered the message from the first phase — SELENIT — a valuable one, in order to be developed in commercial clothing solutions.

The fashion concept supporting this brand is a collaborative creation (students of the 3rd year, Fashion Department, National University of Arts, Bucharest, coordinated by dr Ioana Sanda Avram), inspired by Sense of place, a megatrend from WGSN, for Spring Summer 2015.

Creative concept: the new cultural approach focalizes on the reality, expressed in the material world’s details, as a reaction toward virtuality, becoming more and more overwhelming and dangerous.

The new technologies super-high-definition could help us to attempt an emotional intensity more extended and complex than anything else before, living the present and the environmental space much more consciously and acute. We need quiet, space for breathing and intimacy with our place.
There is a sense of place and context, in this reality friendly, not hostile wherewith artists and designers work together. A “space” of material reality and living environment, from where we picks up sounds, tastes, textures and emotions to describe the place we are calling “home”.



Collaborative Creation 2007—2017

The “COLLABORATIVE CREATION” Program means to put into form a new creative model, specific for the new paradigm of this Age of Information and Knowledge. This model is created and experienced at the Bucharest National University of Arts since 2007, based on studies that define and pursue the phenomenon at a level of complex research.

It is designed, managed and coordinated by lecturer. dr. Ioana Avram Sanda.

The new creative attitude is based on trained and educated creativity, on collaborative creation, the free sharing mentality and applied complexity.

The creative response implies methods of anticipating fashion trends, creative lifestyle models, inspirational concept, commercial declination, projection of the prototypes and new forms of promotion (“experiential” events, social media campaigns, Augmented and Virtual Reality applications or co creation laboratory).

Each generation who passed through this experience, not only brought creative contribution, but also valuably cultural contribution. It also contributed to the structuring of the main elements of the new type of creativity. In this case, we talk about a common product, above the individual creative value and far above the sum of creative solutions from the participants. It is a mix between all the best things in every member and the result is the best response to the given subject.

It is a single “creative mind” which doesn’t represent the sum, but the fusion and the absolute value of all members’ abilities. Each one is finding himself in the creative response and they grow through the relationship with others.

The Fashion Department within the “Nicolae Grigorescu” Institute of Arts, initially founded in close connection with the clothing industry (in 1971), has transformed in present times into a department. It is responsive to the contemporary cultural phenomenon, including both artistic, scientific and technological directions, being open to all means of expression in the field of fashion, of costume creation and unconventional experiments related to garments. This interdisciplinary direction reached remarkable performances.
